Meet Annie Montero

MA | LAC | NCC | NJ Individual & Family Counselor

Overview:

Annie Montero, MA, LAC, NCC, is a compassionate therapist who enjoys helping children, teens, college students, and adults navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, clarity, and self-understanding. She has extensive experience supporting college students and young adults through anxiety, academic stress, relationship concerns, and major life transitions, and enjoys working with individuals across all stages of life as they navigate personal, academic, relational, and career challenges.

Annie understands that meaningful change begins with feeling heard and understood. Her approach is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative, creating a supportive space where clients can openly explore their experiences, gain insight, and work through challenges at their own pace. Annie believes every person has unique strengths, and therapy is about helping clients reconnect with those strengths while building the tools they need to thrive.

Annie's Approach to Therapy:

Annie tailors therapy to each client's unique needs, drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, strengths-based counseling, and solution-focused techniques. She helps clients better understand themselves, build practical coping skills, and move toward the goals that matter most to them.

When working with children and younger teens, Annie incorporates creative, developmentally appropriate counseling techniques that help young clients feel comfortable expressing themselves while building confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy coping skills.

Annie believes therapy is a collaborative process. Her goal is to help clients discover solutions that feel authentic, view challenges from new perspectives, and recognize strengths they may not yet see in themselves. She believes lasting growth happens when people feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood.

Annie earned her Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montclair State University and has worked in counseling and helping professions since 2018. She is currently supervised by Kathleen Mangano, ACS.

Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, academic stress, or personal growth, Annie is committed to helping you build the confidence and skills to move forward with hope. Annie believes every person has unique strengths, and therapy is about helping clients reconnect with those strengths while building the tools they need to thrive.
